Hemp Way Food's Story
Originated in Evergreen, Colorado, Hemp Way Foods is the vision of Carla Boyd, who established her company in 2014 to serve those requiring enhanced plant-based nutrition.
As the saying goes, “necessity being the mother of invention,” it was Carla’s own experiences with food intolerances after recovery from a terrible automobile accident, that caused her to reimagine her nutritional intake. Directed by her doctors, she began her quest to identify alternatives to fuel her body, absorb protein, and achieve optimum health.
This led her to hemp, not only as a source of protein, but also as a source of vital nutrients which helped reduce her recovery time significantly. After several years developing and reformulating her recipes, she debuted her Hemp Burger and Hemp Burger Crumble products to local grocery stores, nutritional outlets, and health food stores to resounding success. By the end of her second year in business, she was widely-acclaimed in the health food industry being featured in publications such as the Denver Post & The Hemp Connoisseur Magazine, as well as having earned accolades for taste, winning taste test challenges such as “Best Colorado Hemp Food” in 2016, 2018, and 2019.
Carla and Hemp Way Foods are here to show us it isn’t impossible to believe a non-GMO, free of corn, dairy, gluten, and soy, meat alternative can’t taste this good, while having more bioavailable, absorbable protein per bite compared to the “other guys.”
