Welcome! I’m Carla Boyd, the founder of Hemp Way Foods, and I’m excited to share my journey with you.
In 2014, I founded Hemp Way Foods with the goal of providing better plant-based nutrition for people like me—those looking for healthy alternatives that work for their bodies. My story began when I developed food allergies, which made it difficult for me to find nutritional options that supported my health. Guided by my doctors, I set out on a mission to find alternatives that would not only fuel my body but also help me absorb protein effectively and achieve optimal health.
This quest led me to hemp. I discovered that hemp was not only an excellent source of protein but also packed with vital nutrients that greatly helped my recovery. After years of developing and refining my recipes, I created the Hemp Burger and Hemp Burger Crumble—products that I could proudly share with others. I started offering them to local grocery stores, nutritional outlets, and health food shops, where they were met with overwhelming success.
Within two years, Hemp Way Foods had gained recognition in the health food industry, featured in publications like The Denver Post and The Hemp Connoisseur Magazine.
Our products were awarded "Best Colorado Hemp Food" in 2016, 2018, and 2019—testament to the fact that a non-GMO, corn-, dairy-, gluten-, and soy-free meat alternative could be both delicious and highly nutritious. We offer more bioavailable, absorbable protein per bite than many traditional meat substitutes.
Our success didn't stop there. Hemp Way Foods was honored to be voted Best Vegan Company in Denver for the 2024 Vegan Chef Challenge by Vegan Outreach. In 2022, we received the Elevation Award for advancing the hemp industry, presented by the Global Hemp Association.
With each of these accolades, we are proving that Hemp Way Foods is not just changing the plant-based food scene—we’re making a lasting impact in the broader food industry. We are excited to continue growing and inspiring others with our commitment to great-tasting, nutritious, and sustainable food.
